Jeff Feetham informs us that ‘Hammer Jack’ was the nick name given to John William Feetham, who was a hammer driver in the rolling mill.

I haven’t proved it yet, but I think that John William Feetham, had his birth registered as John William Feetam; born in Hull. I’m awaiting some certificates to confirm this.

I received the marriage certificate for Hammer Jack, where he is described as a forgeman living in Brightside; And it states that his father was Joseph Feetham. The birth certificate for John William Feetam, states that his father was John Feetam.  So it’s back to searching for Hammer Jack’s birth certificate.
